A man is as good as his word but if you break a covenant (a vow) then the other is free without penalty.  It is only the covenant  breaker [the vow breaker,the adulterer, the one who cheated first on their spouse]  who will be held accountable for their actions.  

God permits divorce only for 3 occasions: 

1. For the Cause of Death

2. For Abandonment (if you or your spouse leaves the other)

3. For Adultery (if you or your spouse has sexual relations with another person)

If one divorces for any other reason then that named above the bible declares whoever marries that person would also be considered an adulterer.  

God hates divorce... He will permit it only if your spouse has cheated on you. 

You cannot remarry without causing another one to commit the sin of adultery unless one of those three named reasons above were the grounds for your divorce.
